Integrated urban places designed to bring people, activities, buildings, and public space together

The construction of the Gangxia North Comprehensive Transportation Hub brings about convenient transport links and a competitive edge in land prices, presenting a great opportunity for further development and appreciation of the project area.

This project embraces the TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) model. It strategically locates interchange stations between three newly constructed subway lines and existing ones. Within a 5-10 minute walk, there will be vibrant, mixed-use development zones, integrating various transit options (subway, BRT, buses, taxis, shared bicycles), pedestrian-friendly walkways, underground public spaces, and essential amenities. This creates a dynamic, round-the-clock urban center that not only serves the immediate vicinity but also radiates its benefits to the broader area within a 10-minute walking radius and beyond.

Our design proposal aimed to create a dialogue between interior and exterior space, between the urban layer and the underground level. Opening up large areas for natural lighting and creating smooth transitions between inside and outside leading to a feeling of openess and penetrateability that is not usual for underground transportation developments. 

Our proposal employs numerous design elements such as sunken plazas and grand openings between levels to create an inviting impression of openess.

Located at the intersection of two major roads, Shenan abd Caitian, Gangxia North Hub will play a major role in connecting the four corners, showing ways to naturally lead people in and through the station making use several layers of pedestrian circulation reducing the high amount of people circulating in the street level.
